*** My friend's friend Alejandro Galeana aka Kin Kin. "MIA" and "RIP" - 6/6/08

Raul Monroy, a fellow bodysurfer in Mexico lost his amigo today. Here's his email to our Yahoo Bodysurfing Forum:  Hi every one

3 hours before this email, my friend and Manta Brother, Alejandro Galeana aka Kin Kin passed away, he was bodyboarding at Las Escolleras, when he lost his bodyboard, he try to swim to the shore but a big wave crush behind him, he tried to get air just to disappear in the water, never came out, we didn't found his body, we will re-search tomorrow morning.

Kin kin was a big wave rider, was one of my best partners in the storm swell's , we care of each other in the big waves, he was bodysurfer too, fearless surfer.

We love you brother KIN-KIN and we'll miss you

God Bless You

THANKS, JIM, FOR THIS EMAIL.  REMEMBERING MORRO BAY ------  IN 1927 THE HEPBURNS TRAVELED TO ATASCADERIO, CALIFORNIA TO VISITT OUR GRANDMOTHER, ELIZABETH JANE HEPBURN.  ONE DAY WAS SPENT PICKNICKING AT MORRO BAY.  THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT BROTHER FRANCIS AND I SAW THE PACIFIC OCEAN.  AS WE VENTURED INTO THE COLD PACIFIC FRANCIS YELLED OUT, "I WANT OUT OF HERE.  LITTLE DID WE KNOW THEN THAT THE PACIFIC OCEAN WOULD BE PART OF OUR LIVES IN WWII.

U.S. Coast Guard 47-ft Motor Life Boat 12/04/07  Morro Bay

Large storm swells reached Morro Bay California on December 4, 2007, bringing 15-20 foot swells with some plus sets.  A U.S. Coast Guard 47-foot Motor Life Boat was out for practice maneuvers in the large surf, which is not unusual.  However, a large wave hit that was probably more than they bargained for...at least it's the hardest I've ever seen them get hit.  The air was filled with mist, and they were quite distant, so at times were just a shadow in the mist. I've adjusted them for better visibility, however the quality of the photos is not the greatest due to the above conditions, and futile attempts to keep the lens dry.
